farah-yusuf-mohamed
FARAH YUSUF MOHAMED

Yusuf Mohammed Farah was born in 1946 in Kilimani, Isiolo County. Growing up in a family of nine, he faced early hardship when seven of his siblings passed away. He attended Kilimani Primary School until grade three. After his parents died, he was forced to drop out because there was no one to pay his school fees.

Searching for a way to survive, Yusuf moved to Kakamega to find work. He spent his early adulthood taking on manual tasks, such as working in hotels and tilling farms. Through this grueling labor, he saved enough to marry and raise eight children. While he worked hard to ensure they were educated, the family lived a very difficult life. They often suffered through days of extreme hunger. Sometimes they slept on empty stomachs because every cent went toward basic survival.

The challenges intensified when Yusuf’s leg began to swell painfully, eventually making it impossible for him to walk. Around this time, his wife fell ill with severe malaria that affected her brain and caused mental instability.

Life changed when the community alerted Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) to his plight. Today, Yusuf is a beneficiary of the senior feeding program, receiving essential supplies like rice, flour, and milk. This support has been life-changing for the family. Because his food needs are met, the little money he earns from watchman duties can now go toward his children’s schooling.

Beyond nutrition, Yusuf relies on the charity for vital healthcare. He visits the clinic every Thursday for check-ups and treatment for his leg. His condition has improved so much that he can now walk and stand again. He is deeply grateful and prays that God grants the charity good health and endless blessings.

However, he remains in urgent need of continued help. Now in his 80s, his strength is fading due to old age and a persistent disability. With his adult children still seeking stable work, he has no other way to support his sick wife and keep his youngest children in school.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0720/8324/3263/files/ULGN0WbZ3Uqq3FdCmTuFp9aEwUHLrKV1FKULqpu3mD4.jpg?v=1767860229
