However, his life became very difficult after a snake bit his leg while he was at home.

The injury was so bad that his leg swelled up, and neighbors had to carry him to Mukumu Hospital for treatment.

Alfred stayed in the hospital for three months, and during that time, doctors had to amputate his leg. While he was in the hospital recovering, all three of his children passed away. When he was finally discharged and returned home, he found that his wife had also died while he was away.

Shortly after, his only brother also passed away, leaving Alfred with no family left. He eventually moved to Kakamega, where he lives alone and tries to make a small living by selling items like combs and other small trinkets at the bus stand, though this work does not bring in enough to survive on.

His situation began to improve when he heard about Mama Ibado Charity and how they help the elderly in the community. After visiting the center and being assessed, he became a beneficiary and now receives regular food supplies like flour, sugar, and milk to take home. Along with the food support, Alfred gets the medical care he needs by visiting the clinic every Thursday for a health check-up to monitor his condition.

He is very thankful for this help because it gives him the care and support he cannot afford on his own. Alfred still needs ongoing assistance because he is an elderly man living with a disability and has no surviving family members to help him with his basic needs or the specialized care he requires.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0720/8324/3263/files/dUPBTq0zKBgADa_Cq1S0gYHog3qfRsdJCzZKAu4ZbaE.jpg?v=1767859849
