sarah-amoyi-aluoch
Sarah Amoyi Aluoch

Sarah Amoyi Aluoch was born in 1958 in Majengo, Amalemba, Kakamega County. She grew up in a large family of twelve children, though only three of them are alive today.

Her parents did not have steady jobs, but her mother worked hard at the market selling vegetables to support the family. As a girl at that time, Sarah was not allowed to go to school because girls were not taken to classes, so she spent her childhood helping her mother with the market business until her mother eventually passed away.

When she grew up, Sarah got married in Lurambi and gave birth to twelve children, though sadly, only two boys and two girls are still alive today. She tried hard to take her children to school, but they could not go far because there was no money for school fees and her husband only depended on casual manual labor.

After facing many family problems with her husband, Sarah made the tough decision to leave him. She worked hard as a housemaid on her own and managed to buy a small piece of land in Elukho, where she lives now.

The plot is very small and only fits her house. After buying her piece of land, she stopped working as a maid and went home to rely on manual work like weeding for people to get by.

Right now, Sarah faces serious health problems, including ulcers, high blood pressure, and arthritis. Because of this, she can no longer work or walk long distances, and she now depends entirely on her children who also struggle to find work.

Because her children cannot always provide, Sarah often goes to sleep on an empty stomach while living in her small house with three of her grandchildren. She was in dire need of help and was referred to Mama Ibado by the area village elder, who saw how she used to struggle and brought her forward.

After the area village elder brought her to Mama Ibado, our team visited her home and found out that she is indeed in dire need of help. Because of this, she was enrolled in the Mama Ibado feeding program and now receives essential supplies like milk, sugar, tea leaves, rice, porridge flour, ugali flour, salt, and cooking oil.

Today, Sarah expresses her deepest gratitude and gives so much thanks to Mama Ibado for stepping in to rescue her from endless hunger and despair. She is profoundly grateful for the kindness shown to her, knowing that this life-saving support has brought renewed hope and dignity back into her sunset years.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0720/8324/3263/files/6h79TMCiL3tVwJMcmmotKs7rIV0ikOoqXNRVlwpZX-8.jpg?v=1792673432
