A Momentous Day: Celebrating Seniors Launch Day 2023
The 2023 Seniors Launch Day was nothing short of extraordinary; a day that marked a significant milestone in Mama Ibado Charity’s (MIC) journey to care for the elderly. On this joyous occasion, we welcomed 200 new seniors into our feeding program, with 100 seniors from Isiolo County and 100 from Kakamega County, bringing the total number of seniors we actively serve to an incredible 1,000 every month.
This achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our team, the generosity of our donors, and the resilience of the seniors we serve. Held in Isiolo County, this milestone celebration was filled with moments of joy, reflection, and gratitude.
The event was graced by an array of distinguished guests, including: Ahmed Jibril, MIC's visionary President and Founder, whose passion for serving seniors continues to inspire, county officials who have been instrumental in supporting our mission, Partners and friends of MIC who share our commitment to uplifting vulnerable seniors and members of our Kakamega team, who made the journey to celebrate this remarkable day with us.
The day’s activities marked celebration of care and connection and were thoughtfully curated to celebrate the new seniors joining our program while fostering connections among all attendees. Here’s how the day unfolded:
- Medical Clinic for seniors
We kicked off the day with a special clinic session where over 40 seniors received medical checkups. This was a vital opportunity to assess their health and ensure they start their journey with MIC on a strong footing.
- Tea and Mingling
After the clinic, attendees gathered for a delightful tea break; a chance for the MIC staff and partners to mingle with the new beneficiaries. Conversations flowed, stories were shared, and bonds were formed, making it a truly heartwarming experience.
- Words of Wisdom and Gratitude
The formal segment of the day included speeches from Ahmed Jibril, county officials, and our partners. These words of encouragement and appreciation underscored the importance of our work and the profound impact of collective effort in transforming lives.
- Food Distribution and Lunch
The day concluded with the distribution of food rations to the new seniors, ensuring they immediately felt the tangible support of the program. A sumptuous lunch followed, bringing everyone together to break bread and celebrate this shared milestone.
