This Privacy Policy describes how Mama Ibado Charity (the "Site", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you visit, use our services, or make a purchase from mamaibado.org (the "Site") or otherwise communicate with us regarding the Site (collectively, the "Services"). For purposes of this Privacy Policy, "you" and "your" means you as the user of the Services, whether you are a customer, website visitor, or another individual whose information we have collected pursuant to this Privacy Policy.

At the core of our work at Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) is a commitment to the welfare of seniors. We strive to ensure that every intervention we design brings meaningful and tangible improvements to their lives. 

Privacy Policy


Mama Ibado Charity (“we”, “us”, “our”, “Mama Ibado”, as appropriate) is a charity operating in Canada and Kenya whose mission is to provide food and other basic needs for Seniors located in Kenya. 

We are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information. To support our commitment to privacy, we have developed and implemented a Privacy Program that ensures that all your Personal Information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act), provincial legislation, and/or any applicable laws, regulations, codes, and so on. 

The Terms and Conditions (as seen on this page) form part of this Privacy Policy. 


Data Collection

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, Personal Information means any information about an identifiable individual. This includes your name, date of birth, address and other contact information that may be used to verify your identity.  It also includes your credit card or bank account or other payment information for donation purposes or for purchasing online products; information relating to the programs that you wish to support; language preferences; demographic information such as age and gender; communication preferences for marketing purposes, giving, engagement and donation history, details about your engagement experience, behavioral activity and other Personal and Non-Personal information which has been provided by you through your engagement with us.

We seek your consent before collecting your Personal Information. Consent may be obtained in person, via telephone, mail, through the internet, or via third-party that have the right to disclose information to us. 

If you do not agree with the collection of your Personal Information, please do not provide us with any of your Personal Information or contact customer service at info@mamaibado.org. If you would like to find out what information we hold about you, believe that the information we hold about you is inaccurate, or to request the deletion of your Personal Information (unless the retention is required by law), you may contact info@mamaibado.org.


Disclosure

The personal information will be used for different purposes, such as processing donations, service accounts, identify you in the system, give preferences as per your activity, manage business and operations, research and marketing, and other purposes as otherwise permitted or required by the law. We do not rent or sell Personal Information to any other organizations, but the information may be shared with employees, international offices, third party provides associated with us for the above-mentioned purposes, and/or when required by the law or under any regulatory requirements. When providing information to associated third parties, only information required for the services is provided, and strict terms of confidentiality are established.

We use technological features such as log-in registration, cookies, and click through tracker software. 

Personal Information collected may be stored and/or processed outside of Canada, in such cases, the Personal Information would be subject to the legal jurisdiction of those countries.


Safekeeping

We take steps to maintain technical, contractual, administrative and physical security measures to protect your Personal Information in a manner that is reasonable and appropriate to the nature of the Personal Information you provide to us. For example, we use password protocols and encryption software to protect personal information. Our software systems are routinely updated to maximize protection. 

Safeguards are in place to ensure that Personal Information is not disclosed or shared more widely than necessary. Employees are authorized to access Information necessary for the needs it was obtained for. 

Your Personal information is kept if deemed necessary, or as required by Law and/or Regulations, for the purposes set out in this Policy, which may extend past your relationship with us. However, past that, your information is securely deleted, destroyed and anonymized to ensure your Personal Information is not used any further. 


Updates to this Policy 

This Privacy Policy is regularly reviewed and updated. We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy to be immediately effective, without prior notice to you. Unless otherwise specified, you are deemed to have accepted any modifications made to this Privacy Policy and our practices if you continue to provide Personal Information to us after publication of such modifications.

We may also enhance your shopping experience by enabling Shopify to match your account with other Shopify services that you may choose to use. In this case, Shopify will process your information as set forth in its Privacy Policy and Consumer Privacy Policy.
