Abton Hamis Ramadhan

Abton Hamis Ramadhan, 68, was born in Butsotso, in a place called Maungu, but life's hardships forced him to move to Kakamega’s Alkarim settlement at age ten. He has lived in this oldest informal settlement for over fifty years. This devout man, a father of thirteen children, carries the immense weight of providing for his large family in a struggling environment. His commitment to religious service is deep, yet it is entirely voluntary and uncompensated. With no steady income, he faces a constant and grueling battle just to secure a single meal a day for his dependents.

Abton's life has been defined by scarcity. Raising a large family in a community like Alkarim, where resources are scarce and opportunities are nonexistent, has tested him in every possible way. His minimal formal education further limited his prospects. For a household of his size, the challenge of avoiding hunger is immense.

It is this harsh truth that makes the Mama Ibado Charity Seniors Feeding Program a non-negotiable lifeline. The monthly food rations, including maize flour, rice, and cooking oil, do more than just fill stomachs.
