Adan Ibrahim

Born in 1958 in Isiolo, Ibrahim Adan’s life has been a testament to endurance, sacrifice, and unwavering resilience. As the second-born among eight siblings, he grew up in a humble household, where hardship was a constant companion. Without access to formal education or religious studies at Madrasa, he spent his childhood as a hawker, selling goods to help support his family.

At 20 years old, Adan married and became a father to two children, a boy and a girl. But life dealt him a cruel blow—he lost his daughter, and years later, his wife succumbed to illness, leaving him to raise their son alone. Despite his grief, he refused to be defeated. In time, he remarried and built a larger family, welcoming four sons and four daughters with his second wife.

Adan valued education deeply, working tirelessly to ensure his children had opportunities he never had. Yet, despite his sacrifices, none of them have secured stable employment, adding to the immense burden of providing for a household of 10 without any external help.

As the years passed, his health deteriorated. Ulcers, pneumonia, and asthma made it difficult for him to continue working, but his determination never wavered. He pressed on, doing whatever he could to sustain his family.
One day, Adan heard about Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) from his community—a glimmer of hope amid his struggles. When the MIC team visited him, he shared his story, highlighting his desperate need for support. Recognizing his vulnerability, he was enrolled in the seniors' feeding and healthcare program, receiving lifesaving food assistance and medical care for the past two years.
Despite his chronic health issues, Adan remains the pillar of his family, still striving to provide for his grown-up children. His journey is a testament to resilience, the power of perseverance, and a father’s unbreakable love.

“My life has been a series of battles, but the support from Mama Ibado Charity has been a blessing. It has given me strength and hope,” says Adan.
Though his greatest wish is to see his children secure stable jobs and support the family, his story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of community support and the indomitable human spirit.
