For Halima Ibrahim, life has always been closely connected to Isiolo. Born and raised in the region, she has spent her entire life there, surrounded by generations of family history. But alongside those deep roots came experiences of loss, responsibility, and uncertainty that shaped much of her journey.

Halima’s education ended when she was still in Class 4. After the death of her father, the responsibility of helping support the family fell heavily on her and her mother. With little choice, Halima left school and began working in the fields, taking on difficult manual work to help provide food for the household. As she grew older, Halima married and hoped to build a more secure life for her family. She later became a mother, but that sense of stability was short-lived. The death of her husband left her widowed and solely responsible for raising their children. Without a reliable source of income or a secure home, providing even the most basic necessities became a daily struggle.

It was during this difficult period that Halima learned about Mama Ibado Charity supporting vulnerable families in her community. A neighboring woman told her about the assistance available, and Halima accompanied her to speak with the project team and share her family's circumstances.

After assessing her situation, the organization enrolled Halima as a beneficiary. The food assistance she received, including rice, maize flour, sugar, cooking oil, milk and other food essentials, provided much-needed relief for her household. With a more consistent source of food, Halima was able to ease one of the greatest pressures facing her family.

During subsequent visits, the project team discovered another significant challenge. Halima did not have a permanent home where she and her children could live. Her brother-in-law offered part of his plot of land, giving the family a place where they could establish a home. Recognizing the opportunity to provide lasting support, the organization constructed a spacious and durable house for Halima and her children on the donated land.

For Halima, receiving a home meant far more than having a roof over her head. It gave her family a place where they could live with greater dignity, safety, and stability. After years of uncertainty, she finally had a permanent place to call home.

Today, Halima looks toward the future with renewed hope. The support she received has helped ease the challenges that once defined her daily life and given her family a stronger foundation from which to move forward.
