Anjila Lusinde Ikatukha

Born 73 years ago in Kakamega, Anjila Lusinde Ikatukha's childhood was marked by tragedy. She never knew the joy of growing up with a complete family; her parents passed away when she was just a child. Along with her younger brother, Anjila was raised by her uncle, but formal education remained out of reach. Her brother, who did manage to attend school, died prematurely before his studies could bear fruit.

Circumstances forced Anjila into early marriage. When that union proved difficult, she entered another, which also turned out to be a terrible relationship. With six children, she was compelled to return to Kakamega, finding herself on the streets, begging for support to survive.

A compassionate Good Samaritan offered a lifeline, helping Anjila establish a small cereal business. This became her sole means of survival and allowed her to send her children to school. However, tragedy struck again when she lost three of her children, plunging her into a period of profound grief as a single mother.

When her cereal business eventually collapsed, Anjila's life became incredibly challenging. Meeting basic needs was a constant struggle. She was forced to switch to selling vegetables, a venture she continues to this day, though it barely covers her essential needs.

Anjila expresses immense gratitude for Mama Ibado Charity, which has significantly eased her burden. She now receives monthly food supplies from Mama Ibado Charity, which makes a crucial difference in her life.

"Mama Ibado doesn't know me personally, yet they have dedicated their resources to help me," Anjila shares. "I pray to God to bless them abundantly and enable them to help more elderly and sickly seniors in our community giving them a second chance in life."
