ANYANGU HASHA OKUMU

Anyangu Hasha Okumu was born on January 1, 1952, in Kakamega. Her home was situated behind the town's cemetery, an area known as Bomani. Unfortunately, after her mother passed away, she was displaced from her Bomani home, marking a difficult period in her young life.

Growing up, Anyangu attended school up to the seventh grade. However, her education was cut short due to her father's circumstances; he had two wives, and the financial strain made it impossible to continue schooling.

Anyangu's journey continued when she married in Mumias. She had a daughter during this marriage, but unfortunately, the union ended due to conflicts with her mother-in-law. After the marriage ended, Anyangu returned to her mother's home in Kakamega town. She sought work as a casual laborer, taking on various tasks to support herself and her daughter. She ended up having three children. One of her daughters got married in Migori but is not in a position to offer any financial support. She also had a son while in Eldoret. This was where she was transferred to work.

The family now lives in Eshisiru. She came to live here after being invited by one of her sons, where she also helps care for her grandchildren while he and his wife work casual jobs at a local hotel.

Providing for her family was always a challenge. Without regular work, she often relied on the kindness of friends for support. Even when she was sick, a neighbor would often provide her with a small amount of money for transport and assistance. Her life in Eshisiru has been challenging because casual labor is hard to find.

A turning point came when a teacher named Idriss recognized Anyangu's difficult situation. Understanding her struggles, Idriss introduced her to Mama Ibado's program. After registering, Anyangu began receiving vital assistance. She was initially registered in Kakamega and even after moving to Eshisiru, she still travels to pick her benefits.

As a beneficiary of Mama Ibado, Anyangu receives essential food items like flour, sugar, oil, rice, tea leaves, salt, and milk. The impact of these provisions is significant. As she states, "Alhamdulillah, Mum provides us with food. It satisfies me."

With the help of Mama Ibado, she is able to have food, which is a welcome relief and reduces the amount of begging from friends that she used to do before the help from Mama Ibado.

Hasha extends her sincere gratitude to Mama Ibado and prays for her continued well-being, strength, and generosity. She hopes that Mama Ibado's efforts will continue to expand and benefit more people in need.

Anyangu's story is a testament to her resilience, but she still needs our help. Any support will ensure she can live with dignity and security, continuing to provide for her grandchildren.
