Aziza Mohammed Nyapora

Aziza Mohammed Nyapora, 72, was born in 1952 in the Maragoli area of Vihiga County. She came from a family of extreme poverty. As one of 11 children, she never attended school because her parents could not afford the fees; instead, her mother had to farm for others just to bring food home.

With no schooling and a desperate life at home, Aziza left to stay with an aunt in Kakamega. There, she was immediately forced to look for casual work, starting as a housemaid, to contribute to her family’s survival.

Aziza returned home at the age of 16 and married. The couple settled in the Lutonyi area of Kakamega and were eventually blessed with four children. However, life remained a struggle, and today, none of her children are in a position to help her. Finding food was a daily challenge. She took on strenuous odd jobs, like being hired to cook chapati and pilau for guests, sometimes earning only KES 500 per task. She managed to educate her children only up to Class 8 before they had to drop out. The family's challenges compounded when her husband died after being poisoned, leaving Aziza alone to raise their children.

Aziza’s life changed when she found a lifeline in Mama Ibado Charity (MIC). Through the Mama Ibado Seniors' Food Program, she now receives reliable food support, including four bags of flour, one kilogram of sugar, rice, milk, salt, porridge flour, tea leaves, and cooking oil. Beyond the essential food, Aziza also benefits from the organization’s health support, allowing her to attend the clinic every Thursday for a check-up.

Aziza expresses deep gratitude for this assistance, praying that God blesses Mama Ibado and empowers her to continue helping others who, like Aziza, were struggling and had nowhere else to turn. Her ongoing need for support is rooted in a life marked by relentless poverty, the tragic loss of her husband, and the inability of her children to provide support, leaving her fully dependent on external aid for the basic necessities of life.
