BALAFU GOWA HALAKE

Balafu Gowa Halake, a devoted mother, spent much of her life caring for her family in Isiolo County. After losing her husband, she was left alone to raise her children in the face of overwhelming hardship. Her son, Adan Ngonjobe, recalls those trying days: “We were struggling with life. My mom would go to neighbors to ask for help just to get by.”

Despite her tireless efforts, life remained a constant struggle. She had no steady income and no means to fully provide for her children. Selling small items and relying on the goodwill of others was never enough, and the family often faced hunger and uncertainty.
Everything began to change when Balafu became a beneficiary of Mama Ibado Charity. Welcomed into their programs, she began receiving monthly support that has transformed their lives. Through the charity, Balafu now receives essential food items including porridge, rice, tea leaves, cooking oil, maize flour, wheat flour, and other necessities. “Life has been good since my mom became a beneficiary and we started receiving food every month,” says Adan. “The porridge gives her strength, and she’s even able to walk around the neighborhood.”

Mama Ibado Charity also provided critical healthcare support. Balafu visits the weekly clinic, where she gets checked and receives the proper treatment and medication she needs. The consistent care has improved her health and ensured that she can maintain her independence.

The impact of Mama Ibado Charity goes beyond food and medicine. They assist seniors in the community, including the disabled and orphans, offering hope to those who have nowhere else to turn. “I’m very grateful for everything they have done for us,” says Adan.

Today, Balafu and her family live with dignity and hope, thanks to the compassionate support of Mama Ibado Charity. Her story stands as a powerful reminder of how generosity and care can transform lives, ensuring that vulnerable seniors in Isiolo have the resources, health, and stability they need to thrive.
