Dickson Olukhalo

Dickson Olukhalo was born on January 1, 1957, in North East Bunyore, Vihiga County.

Growing up in a family of seven siblings—two girls and five boys—he experienced a life where opportunities were scarce, as none of his siblings managed to secure formal employment.

Dickson attended school and worked hard to reach Form Four, but his journey ended there because his parents could not afford the fees required for college. With his academic dreams cut short, he returned home to assist his parents with farming.

In 1982, Dickson married and moved to the Makaburini area in Kakamega to seek a better life. He fathered eight children, and while his older daughters are now married, his younger sons are still in school, ranging from Grade 5 to Form Three.

Providing for them has been a significant challenge; as a casual laborer in the "Jua Kali" sector and a construction worker, his income is small and unpredictable. There were many days when work was unavailable, forcing the family to sleep hungry, as they refused to turn to crime to solve their problems.

Life at home was a constant struggle for survival until Dickson met Mama Ibado. He was introduced to the program by a neighbor who informed him that a well-wisher was registering elderly people in need.

Since joining the program, Dickson has seen a great difference in his household. He now receives regular food supplies, including maize flour, porridge flour, rice, sugar, tea leaves, salt, and vegetable oil. This support has ensured that the "bite of hunger" is no longer a daily threat to his family.

Beyond the nutritional support, Dickson benefits significantly from the health services provided by Mama Ibado Charity.

Dickson is deeply grateful for this intervention and prays that the Almighty grants Mama Ibado a long and blessed life for remembering the poor.

He remains in urgent need of continued help because he is an elderly man whose strength for heavy construction work is fading. With several young children still in school and no stable source of income, he relies entirely on this support to ensure his children stay in school and his family remains healthy and fed.
