Elimina Lihavi Mushira

Elimina Lihavi Mushira was born in Mironje, a village in the Shinyalu area of Kakamega County, in 1956.

Growing up, Elimina and her twin sibling were part of a small family of just two children. Sadly, she never had the chance to attend school. In those days, schooling required fees, and her parents, who worked as farmers, simply couldn't afford it.

Instead of going to school, Elimina stayed home and helped with the farm work. She would till the land, plant maize, beans, and bananas, doing her part to provide food for the family.

Later in life, Elimina married in Shinyalubar. She had five children, but sadly, one of them has since passed away. Of her surviving children, one reached the third grade before dropping out of school, and another reached the sixth grade.

Providing for her family was a constant struggle. She bought vegetables from other people's farms and resold them to other residents. This allowed her to earn a living and feed her children.

However, these days, Elimina is no longer able to farm as much because she suffers from swollen legs, which make it difficult to get around. Additionally, she lacks the capital needed to buy vegetables to resell.

Help arrived when she met Mama Ibado. She was introduced to Mama Ibado through the local sub-chief, Kevin Shikamu.

Since joining the program in 2023, Elimina has received ongoing support from the organization. As a beneficiary, she receives essential food items such as rice, sugar, tea leaves, milk, and flour.

Elimina has also received assistance with her health through Mama Ibado. Her legs were diagnosed with elephantiasis, and she received manageable treatment. She also had a hearing aid fitted and received care for one of her eyes.

Although Elimina is deeply thankful for the support she receives, she still needs assistance. Any additional help would greatly contribute to her overall well-being and allow her to live more comfortably.
