FATUMA GALGALO GUYO

Born in Mombasa, Fatuma Guyo Galgalo’s journey eventually brought her to Isiolo, where she married, built a home, and began raising her family. Over the years, she experienced the joys of family life while carrying the responsibilities that came with providing for those who depended on her. Her life took a difficult turn when her husband passed away, leaving Fatuma as the sole provider for her family. She chose not to remarry, instead dedicating herself to caring for her children and doing everything she could to keep her household together through difficult circumstances.

Today, Fatuma cares for a household of six children as well as her son-in-law. Although those under her care have completed their education, none has been able to secure employment. Without a steady source of income, meeting the family's basic needs remains a daily challenge.

Fatuma’s journey toward receiving support began during a particularly difficult period. One day, while she was on her way to work, she met the Mama Ibado team, who stopped to learn more about her circumstances and review her documentation. At the time, Fatuma’s husband was still alive, but they both didn’t have identification card. Because of this, the household was registered under Fatuma’s mother so that the family could receive relief support.

Fatuma completed the necessary administrative steps, including registering at the local chief’s office and providing the required documents. She was eventually connected to the food distribution programme, giving her household access to essential food support during a time of need.

When her mother later passed away, the support was temporarily interrupted. However, the Mama Ibado team reviewed Fatuma’s circumstances and recognized her situation as a widowed mother caring for several dependants and orphans. She was subsequently re-enrolled in the food programme.

For Fatuma, the continued food support has provided more than nourishment. It has brought a measure of stability to a household where financial uncertainty remains a daily reality. At a time when employment opportunities are scarce and the needs of her family continue, the assistance helps ease the burden of putting food on the table.

Through years of hardship, Fatuma has remained committed to her family, drawing strength from her resilience and faith. The support from Mama Ibado has helped sustain her household through difficult seasons, providing her with reassurance as she continues to care for those who depend on her.
