Hussein Hirsi

Hussein Hirsi carries the weight of decades filled with struggle, sacrifice, and an unshakable love for his family. Born in Isiolo’s Kambi ya Juu area, he never had the chance to attend school. Instead, his childhood was spent herding cattle for his father, a duty that shaped the course of his life.

By 30, he had built a family of his own, marrying the love of his life and welcoming six children into the world. But providing for them was never easy. Hussein worked tirelessly, herding cattle for neighbors, yet the modest pay barely covered rent and basic needs. When he lost one of his sons, grief became yet another weight on his already burdened shoulders.

As the years passed, age and illness made survival even harder. Kidney problems drained his strength, and the rising cost of living left him struggling to feed his family. With no steady source of income, every day was an uphill battle.
Determined to seek a way forward, Hussein turned to Mama Ibado Charity, where he shared his story. Recognizing his need, he was enrolled into the feeding and healthcare programs, giving him access to food and Social health Insurance Cover (SHIF) for medical care. The support lifted some of his burdens, allowing him to focus on what matters most—his grandchildren.

Now, Hussein dreams not for himself but for them. He longs to see them in school, chasing opportunities that life once denied him. Though his struggles are far from over, the kindness and compassion surrounding him have renewed his hope.
