JERUSHA KABITHA METHABU

Jerusha Kabithi’s story is one of resilience and determination in the face of profound hardship. She was born in Ntunjiri, Meru County, and grew up in a modest but loving home. As she entered adulthood, she married in Igonji, Meru County, and together with her husband, she began building a family. Their early life together was filled with hope, yet fate had a harsh plan. Tragically, her husband passed away when her children were still very young, leaving Jerusha to shoulder the responsibilities of raising them alone. With courage and determination, she made the difficult decision to leave Meru and move to Isiolo with her children, seeking a place where they could start anew. She has now lived in Isiolo for 20 years.

Life in Isiolo was not easy. Jerusha faced daily struggles to feed her children, often going without so that they could eat. As the children grew, tragedy struck again: three of her children—two girls and one boy—passed away. The loss left her heartbroken, yet she pressed on, determined to care for the remaining family members. The daughter who had been attending school had to leave her studies to start working and support the family. Through perseverance, she managed to buy the piece of land where they now live, back when land was still affordable, and she built a house for her mother, providing a safe and stable home.

Before becoming a beneficiary of Mama Ibado Charity, Jerusha often visited the charity’s office, searching for support wherever she could find it. She would carry her youngest child, who is disabled, on her back during these visits. The child was still very young at the time, and Jerusha had no reliable source of food or income to provide for her family. Hunger and uncertainty were constant companions, and the weight of her responsibilities often felt unbearable.

The support from Mama Ibado Charity became a turning point in Jerusha’s life. The food she receives has transformed her ability to care for her family. Her youngest child, who had previously gone hungry and experienced dangerously low sugar levels, now receives regular meals, keeping her sugar levels stable around 5 or 6. The porridge provided by the charity is a source of nourishment and relief for both mother and child. For Jerusha, this support is more than just food—it is hope, security, and a sense of stability she had not known for years.

Today, Jerusha continues to persevere, her strength and resilience shining through despite the hardships she has faced. She is deeply grateful for the support of Mama Ibado Charity, which has enabled her to provide for her child and live with a renewed sense of hope.
