John Muguru

John Muguru, is a resident of Bula Ward, Isiolo County, and his life is a testament to resilience in the face of adversity. Born as the second of six siblings, John’s childhood was shaped by hard work and responsibility. With limited access to education, he only managed to reach class three before joining his father in running a small kiosk to help support the family.

In 1984, John married his beloved wife, and together they were blessed with five children. Sadly, tragedy struck when two of them passed away. Despite financial struggles, John worked tirelessly to ensure his children attained a primary school education. However, due to a lack of school fees, none of them could proceed to secondary school. Today, though unemployed, his children remain close, supporting each other with whatever little they can.

John’s hardships did not end there. He developed a severe ulcer that affected his appetite, limiting the types of food he can eat. Unfortunately, he often cannot afford the specialized diet required to manage his condition. Living alone with no stable income, John found himself struggling to get even one meal a day.

During his time of need, he was introduced to Mama Ibado Charity’s Seniors Feeding Program, which became his lifeline. The program provides him with essential food supplies every month, including Cornsoya porridge, which has been particularly helpful for managing his ulcers. This support has given him renewed hope and improved his quality of life.
