Kitonye Alexander Ngayo was born in 1949 in the village of Rosterman, Shinyalu. He grew up as the only boy among four children, flanked by three sisters.
His journey through education began with hope, but it was cut short when he was only in standard four. His father passed away that year, and his mother lacked the financial ability to pay the school fees required to keep him in the classroom.
With the doors of the school closed, he began wandering in search of any work he could find to help his struggling mother. He spent his youth performing manual labor, primarily tilling the farms of neighbors to earn a few shillings for their survival.
