Born in Sololo, Marsabit County, Kula’s childhood was spent tending to her father’s livestock, a responsibility that left her with little time for anything else. At just 12 years old, she was married off, and her husband moved her to Isiolo South, where they began their life together. Over the years, she gave birth to six children, but only three survived.
During the Kenyatta regime, Kula and her family were relocated to Kambi Odha in Isiolo North. Life remained simple but stable, as she and her husband raised their children while herding their small number of livestock.
