Lukhokho Elizabeth Mukhanji

Elizabeth Lokholo was born in Muranda Village in Kakamega county. She was born in a family of five, all of whom unfortunately have since died. She never went to school as her father, who was just a peasant farmer, could not afford to take her to school.

She spent her childhood at home, where she was confined to doing household chores and helping her mother with farm work. This included cooking, fetching water, and gathering firewood. At the age of 15, Elizabeth left her home and moved to Shitao to get married.

In Shitao, Elizabeth and her husband had seven children. Life with her husband was difficult; they farmed a small plot and he often sought casual work to supplement their food supply. Their family suffered immense loss when three of their children tragically died, and the remaining ones eventually moved far away.

After her husband passed away, Elizabeth's hardships intensified significantly. To compound her sorrow, her last remaining son was later murdered, leaving her completely alone. With her distant children unable to provide support, she struggled greatly. Her body grew weak, her joints ached, and she found it nearly impossible to farm or find casual work for food, often forcing her to sleep hungry.

Her dire situation was noticed by a friend of Mama Ibado, a local community worker looking out for the elderly. This friend informed Mama Ibado and Elizabeth was generously accepted as a beneficiary of Mama Ibado Charity outreach.

Through Mama Ibado’s Food for the Seniors program, Elizabeth now receives essential provisions, including flour for ugali, cooking oil, sugar, milk, and salt. This sustenance has helped restore her strength and overall well-being. Focusing on her health, she also benefits from medical attention, visiting the clinic every Thursday for a check-up, and is now in much better condition.

Elizabeth is deeply grateful to Mama Ibado. She feels well and strong in her advanced years and constantly prays that God blesses the organization and helps it grow. However, Elizabeth is old, alone, and too weak to earn a living, with no family to care for her. She remains in urgent need of continuous support to ensure her survival.
