MADINA ADAN IBRAHIM

Madina Adan was born in Moyale, a place she remembers with warmth and pride. Her early life took her from Moyale to Laikipia, where she spent her strongest years farming, raising her children, and working tirelessly to keep her family fed. Those were the days she describes as “full of energy,” a time when her hands were steady, her body was strong, and her home was alive with the sound of children.

But life changed as she grew older. Her strength began to fade, and the weight of age pressed heavily on her. Then came the heartbreak no mother ever imagines. Several of her children passed away, leaving her with only one surviving son. The grief stayed with her, shaping her days even as she kept pushing forward.

When Madina eventually moved to Isiolo County in her later years, survival became increasingly difficult. Age had taken her strength, disability made movement hard, and she had no steady source of food. Every day became a test of endurance.

That’s when Mama Ibado Charity stepped into her life. After assessing her situation, the charity enrolled her as a beneficiary. For Madina, this was the turning point. She began receiving food support at the beginning of every month without fail. Wheat flour, milk, rice, tea leaves, porridge, cooking oil, salt, and other essentials became the lifeline she could count on. “I receive the food very well,” she says, the relief clear in her voice.

As her mobility decreased, Mama Ibado Charity provided her with a walking stick and glasses to help her navigate her daily life. The team even ensured she had a safe, dignified place to use by building her a toilet. And whenever she is unable to walk to the distribution point, her food is brought directly to her home. The staff visit, check on her, and make sure she is doing well.

Today, Madina moves through life with more peace. The support she receives keeps her nourished and cared for in her old age. “The food really helps me,” she shares softly. “And I am very grateful.” Her prayers remain constant: that God increases and strengthens the work of Mama Ibado Charity, so that more seniors facing the same struggles can be supported, fed, and treated with dignity.
