MOHAMED IKO ABDI

Mohammed Iko Abdi was born in Isiolo County, where he spent his life building a family and dreaming of a stable future. He married in his hometown and was blessed with children, cherishing the hope of providing for them. In his younger years, he owned cattle, which gave him security and pride. But over time, life’s cruel twists depleted his livestock, and with it went his main source of income.

Without a home of his own, Mohammed now rents, struggling every day to make ends meet. Life has been harsh, filled with uncertainty and pain. A motorbike accident left him with a leg injury that never fully healed, and chest and back pains made even the simplest tasks difficult. Some days, he is too weak to leave the house; other days, he drags himself to the clinic, hoping for relief. He is alone in these struggles, with no work and no steady support to lean on.

Then, at his lowest point, Mama Ibado Charity came into his life. The organization visited his home, assessed his situation, and welcomed him into their Seniors Feeding Program. For the first time in years, Mohammed felt relief. He began receiving monthly food supplies, lifting the constant worry of where his next meal would come from.

More than just food, the charity brought Mohammed healthcare and renewed hope. When he is too weak to leave his home, a doctor visits him, providing treatment and essential medication. On the days he can make it to the clinic, he receives attentive care, guidance, and, most importantly, the reassurance that he is seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Since joining the program, Mohammed’s life has changed in ways he never imagined. The burden of hunger and illness has been eased, and with it comes dignity, peace, and the courage to face each day. “I am very grateful,” he says, his voice filled with emotion. “May God bless you for what you do.”
