Born in Baragoi, Samburu County, Ngamoe’s childhood was marked by unimaginable tragedy. As a young girl of seven, her family of eight—including her parents—was brutally killed by bandits. Ngamoe narrowly escaped death, her life forever changed in an instant. Rescued by police, she was taken to Baragoi town, where an uncle reluctantly took her in.
Instead of finding refuge, Ngamoe faced daily abuse. Denied an education, she spent her days looking after her uncle’s children, enduring beatings and insults. Her youth was marked by misery, and at twenty, she was married off to an older man against her will.
