In the dry stretch of Baragoi in Samburu County, Elizabeth Ntita grew up surrounded by livestock and the steady rhythm of pastoral life. The animals were more than wealth. They were her security, her identity and the future she hoped to pass down to her children. But the land grew harsh. Droughts worsened. One by one, her animals were lost. With every animal that died, a piece of her stability disappeared too. By the time she moved to Maralal town, and later to Isiolo County in her older age, she had learned the painful truth that life can change without warning, no matter how hard one works.

In Isiolo, survival became a daily decision. To keep her children fed, Elizabeth turned to burning and selling charcoal. The smoke stung her eyes, the heat wore down her body, and the little she earned never matched the effort she put in. Still, she pushed on with the quiet determination of a mother who refuses to give up.

Her turning point came the day she was registered as a beneficiary of Mama Ibado Charity.

For the first time in a long while, she felt the weight on her shoulders lighten. Every month, she received wheat flour, maize flour, rice, sugar, porridge flour, a litre of cooking oil and other essentials. These weren’t just items on a list. They were meals she no longer had to worry about. They were days when her children would not go hungry. They were a reminder that she, too, deserved care.

But age continued bringing challenges. Transport to the clinic was often too expensive, leaving her to push through sickness alone. Then came the day her eyesight weakened so badly she could barely find her way. A neighbor noticed her struggle, held her hand and walked her gently to the clinic at Mama Ibado Charity Offices. At the clinic she was examined, treated and given medication. She was also given a walking stick to help her move safely and food to take home.

Today, Elizabeth speaks with a full heart. She says the monthly food she receives fills her home with peace and gives her strength to keep going. She is deeply grateful, and she prays for Mama Ibado Charity, asking God to bless the people who continue to care for seniors like her.
