OMAR ALI YUSUF

Ali Yusuf Omari was born in 1967 in Amalemba, Kakamega County, where he has spent his entire life. He comes from a large family of thirteen children, but only four siblings survive today.

As a child, he attended kindergarten and progressed to primary school, but he was forced to stop his education at that level due to financial constraints and his parents' inability to afford further schooling.

After leaving school, he began seeking casual labor and engaging in small businesses to sustain himself. He eventually married and was blessed with six children, though one has since passed away, leaving him with five.

Following the passing of his parents and several siblings, he took on the responsibility of caring for his late brothers' orphaned children, which has brought the total number of children under his care to twelve.

Providing for such a large household through irregular manual labor became an overwhelming challenge, and securing enough food for everyone was a constant struggle. His ability to work is also limited by chronic health issues, specifically persistent chest pains and a leg that was previously broken and never fully recovered.

His situation began to improve when he met the Mama Ibado Charity after they launched their senior support project in Amalemba, and he was registered as a beneficiary due to his difficult economic and physical state.

Through the program, he receives essential monthly supplies, including maize flour, rice, sugar, porridge flour, cooking oil, tea leaves, salt, and milk.

In addition to this food support, Ali benefits from the organization's focus on healthcare, which allows him to visit the clinic every Thursday for a medical check-up to monitor his chest and leg conditions.

"Before I was included in this program, life was a constant battle to find even a little food through casual jobs, but now these provisions ensure the children in my house feel satisfied and cared for," Says Ali.

He further expressed the change in his daily life, stating, "Being part of this program has lifted a heavy burden from my shoulders because the children no longer have to go hungry while I look for work that is hard to find,”

Ali is deeply grateful for this intervention and prays for the continued strength of the organization. He requires ongoing assistance because he is an aging man with physical disabilities who remains the sole provider for a massive household of twelve young and orphaned dependents who have no other means of support.
