Rosemary MukoRiungu grew up in a rural farming community, where life was defined by hard work and early responsibility. From a young age, she helped on her family’s farm, learning the rhythms of planting and harvesting, and often traveling to neighboring farms to earn small wages. Her days were long and laborious, and there were times when she carried her young child on her back as she worked the fields, ensuring both survival and care for her family. She worked on cotton farms and other crops, and every plot of land she was assigned had to be completed before she could move on. Payment was meager, sometimes 10 Ksh, sometimes 20 Ksh—but it was enough to keep going and provide the bare necessities.

For many years, food scarcity and uncertainty were constant companions. There were days when putting a meal on the table felt like an impossible task. Yet, Rosemary remained steadfast, committed to providing for herself and her child, and never allowing despair to overtake her spirit.

Everything began to change when Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) entered her life. Through their seniors’ feeding program, Rosemary now receives regular monthly food rations, a support system that has relieved her daily struggle against hunger and malnutrition. This assistance has not only sustained her physically but also emotionally, rekindling hope and a sense of dignity that had been missing for decades.

Beyond food, the charity’s support has improved her overall well-being. Access to consistent healthcare has allowed Rosemary to maintain her health and participate more fully in her community. The sense of security and care provided by MIC has transformed her life, allowing her to focus on living with dignity rather than simply surviving.
