Savina Kanja’s life story is one marked by loss, hardship, and quiet resilience in the face of overwhelming daily challenges. After the passing of her mother, Nkantha Michengi, on 4th August last year, Savina was left navigating life in a home already weighed down by poverty and lack of basic necessities. Her mother had been her main source of support, and her death created a deep gap that made survival even more difficult.

Following her mother’s passing, Savina stepped into responsibility and began collecting food support on her behalf. From that moment, she continued receiving assistance from Mama Ibado Charity, which gradually became a critical source of survival for her household. She explains that before this support, life was extremely difficult, with frequent hunger and no money to buy food. At times, there was nothing in the house at all, and she had to endure long periods without basic meals.

Savina says that today she depends entirely on Mama Ibado Charity for support. The organization provides her with monthly food assistance, which she has been receiving consistently for the past three months. This support has become a steady lifeline in her life, helping her maintain some stability in an otherwise difficult situation.

The food assistance she receives includes essential household staples such as rice, milk, wheat flour, maize flour, cornstarch flour, cooking oil, and other basic food necessities. These items help ensure that she and her household do not go without food and are able to manage their daily needs with some dignity.

In addition to food support, Savina also shares her experience with healthcare. In the past month, she visited the clinic where she received medication. She is currently continuing her treatment and is almost finishing the prescribed dosage. Access to medication has been an important part of her care.

Savina also lives with a serious medical condition affecting her leg. She describes persistent pain in one of her joints, which at times becomes so severe that she is unable to walk. The condition makes daily movement difficult and adds to the burden of her already challenging circumstances. Despite this, she continues to manage her responsibilities as best as she can.

She expresses deep concern about her health situation and hopes to continue receiving medical support and medication. Savina explains that she has no one else to depend on for assistance and that she is largely on her own. This reality makes the support she receives even more significant in her life.

Despite all these challenges, Savina speaks with heartfelt gratitude. She says the food support has made a real difference in her life every month, ensuring that she does not go hungry and can maintain some level of stability.

“I am very grateful,” she says. “The food support really helps me every month.”She adds that she continues to pray for Mama Ibado Charity and hopes that the organization will continue its work of supporting vulnerable people like her.
