SHALIMBA PASTIANO INGOSI

Shalimba Pastiano Ingosi was born in 1949 and grew up in a family where he was one of three sons.

His father was a farmer who worked hard to provide for the family and managed to send Shalimba to Bukulunya School, where he studied until completing Class 7. After finishing his primary education, he remained at home for a while before a friend invited him to Uganda to seek better opportunities.

He secured a job with East African Airways and worked there for nearly nine years before moving back to join Kakamega General Hospital, where he dedicated thirty-two years of his life working in the stores department until his retirement.

He married his wife in 1965, and together they raised seven children, consisting of two sons and five daughters. After retiring from his formal job, he returned home to become a full-time farmer, tilling the land for maize, beans, and vegetables to feed his family.

However, as he grew older and his physical strength began to fade, providing for his household became a significant challenge. Life became very difficult as he struggled to maintain the farm, and he found himself worrying about where their next meal would come from.

This cycle of hardship changed when he was introduced to the Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) by Ibrahim Mohammed, who guided him toward the seniors feeding program.

Since joining, his life has improved immensely because he no longer has to struggle for basics; he now receives regular supplies of maize flour, rice, sugar, salt, tea leaves, milk, and cooking oil.

He is deeply grateful to Mama Ibado for this life-changing support, noting that without it, he would not be in the good condition he is in today. He prays for the organization’s continued success and health so they can reach even more people.

He continues to require this assistance because he is an elderly retiree with no other source of income, and while his children are grown, they are busy with their own lives and computer-related work, leaving him dependent on this support to maintain his health and dignity.
