WERE ZAMUZAMU NGOSIA

Zamuzamu Ngosia Hassan Were, now 77 years old, was born in Butere Mumias in 1948. Her youth was marked by a strong commitment to learning. She progressed through primary school, passed her final examination at Standard Eight, and applied to Nursing College. This promising path ended abruptly after completing her first year, she was forced to quit her studies during the second year because the family simply could not afford the school fees.

In 1973, Zamuzamu married and was blessed with eight children. Heartbreakingly, four of them passed away, leaving her to raise the remaining four. After her husband's death, Zamuzamu was thrust into a life defined by constant hardship and struggle. Her most serious daily challenge was securing food. To provide for her family, she launched a series of small businesses, selling items like vegetables, sugar, cigarettes, and kerosene. She even attempted the difficult work of burning charcoal, a venture she abandoned when the local trees were depleted. Her petty trading soon failed because she lacked the capital to sustain it, making the fight for a single meal a daily, tough reality.

This relentless struggle changed dramatically when she was connected with Mama Ibado Charity. Since that day, the organization has provided unwavering support. Zamuzamu now receives vital food supplies designed for seniors, an assistance that has completely transformed her life. She states she feels much better, knowing the food lasts the entire month until the next delivery. Beyond the essential food, Zamuzamu also benefits significantly from the provided health support, which allows her to visit the clinic every Thursday for necessary check-ups and medical care.

Zamuzamu Were expresses her deepest gratitude, calling the aid a profound blessing because she has not gone hungry even for a single day since it began. She is deeply thankful for the genuinely good work and prays for the initiative's continued success. Despite this wonderful assistance, she humbly explains her need for continued help. The food remains absolutely essential for her survival. Without it, her advanced age and current circumstances mean she would be immediately forced back into a life of debilitating hunger, as she is simply unable to provide for herself.
